Born in St. Paul, Jake grew up in a working class family that focused on a strong work ethic and education.
Growing up in Minnesota winters oftentimes his whole family would sleep in one room of their house because that was all they could afford to heat. He and his two brothers attended public schools in St. Paul and Durand, Wisconsin. They all went on to the University of Wisconsin - Stout where they each graduated in three years and debt-free.

Armed with a degree in Applied Mathematics & Computer Science, Jake turned down professional jobs in his area of study so that he could work in a restaurant, in hopes of learning the business and being his own boss. Jake quickly worked his way up from making sandwiches, to a position within the corporate franchise office on new store development.

In 2002, Jake was 22 years old, had his degree, a job, and was renting a small house with his wife, Knelly.

Six years later, Jake is a restaurant and property owner. Most importantly, he and his wife are proud parents of three children; Fiona, 5; Castle, 3; and Melvin, 1. Jake and Knelly know they are blessed and want to make sure that the American Dream is available to their young children and future generations.

Jake spends his free time enjoying his family. His main interests are cooking, nutrition, and restoring their vintage downtown home. He and Knelly have seen great benefit from being a part of a Bible study group over the past 4 years.

Jake has always stood by his principles of liberty for all people, free markets for all business, and a government that treats everyone the same.
Jake wants the state of Minnesota to be a place where it is easy for people to start businesses, raise their families, and teach their children about the American Dream. Jake knows that the way to achieve this is to get the government out of the way, let people keep as much of their hard-earned money as possible and let the free market work for the benefit of the consumer.

Jake is ready for the challenge. He needs and deserves your support.

He hopes to be a unifying voice in the Minnesota House, a true representative for the diverse people of District 30A.
