MOMENTUM BUILDS FOR DETTINGER WITH ELECTION TO GOP CONVENTION

Saturday’s 1st District Republican Convention was full of surprises… not the least of
which sent one unsuspecting delegate, local businessman and State House candidate
Jake Dettinger, the opportunity to be seated at the Republican Nat’l Convention this
fall in St. Paul.

“I was not expecting to be elected as a national delegate. I just told people who I
was, what I believe in and it clearly resonated with the other delegates,” said
Dettinger.

Minnesota will be sending 38 delegates total to the GOP Convention, with only three
coming from the First District. Jake Dettinger, a virtual newcomer to the local political
scene and a candidate for House District 30A, received the nomination on the second
round of voting.

“We have a great system here in Minnesota, where truly anybody, in any precinct,
can make a difference at the national level. It’s also a testament to the Republican
Party. We are a growing party with many new voices.”

People typically view national delegates as being established party insiders or elected
officials. Dettinger is neither, although through his bid for State House District 30A, he
is hoping to change that.

“It’s very humbling to be one of three people elected, out of thousands of people who
attended caucuses within the First District. I am honored.”

This years RNC will be held in St. Paul, September 1-4.
